Reporters Without Borders acquired a short video showing artist Liu Xia, wife of jailed Chinese dissident and Nobel peace laureate Liu Xiaobo, living under house arrest:
Smoking a cigarette at the window is one of the few freedoms she can still enjoy.
Difficulties in obtaining these images shows the isolation in which she lives and the danger that hangs over all who wish to approach his home. (sound cuts were deliberately made to protect the source of this video)
Pressure on relatives of Liu Xiaobo and Liu Xia in particular must cease immediately. The police surveillance to which she is subjected is not only unacceptable but also completely illegal. Liu Xia is a victim of psychological harassment.
